BJ Art Deco leaping gazelle pendant
designed for other Danish Designers
Very large and decorative pendant by an artist whose identity I have been unable to establish with any certainty, due to the registration of several BJs in the 20th century. It is most likely to be by I.B.Jensen, who worked in Copenhagen until 1937, or possibly a later artist, Bent Johansen Jeppesen, who started in 1961. Whichever this work can be attributed to, it is undeniably a little masterpiece in the Art Deco style, with the elongated and stylised limbs of the graceful animal set against the swirling foliage within a large rectangular frame.
