Georg Jensen Sterling silver pendant
designed for Georg Jensen
This charming Georg Jensen pendant represents the Christian trilogy of Faith hope and charity (or love) with the heart (for love) framing an anchor (hope) on the right and the cross (faith) on the left.
The pendant was designed by Vilhelm Albertus (1878-1963), who worked for the Georg Jensen company for many years. He was the younger brother of Gundolph Albertus, who was married to the sister of Jensen’s third wife. He designed this pendant in around 1940.
The pendant, also produced as a brooch, was still in Jensen’s repertoire at least 10 years ago, especially because of its heart shaped form. The fact that it features Christian iconography is not immediately noticeable, unlike the usual Faith hope and charity pieces, where the three symbols are separate, and are then collected onto a chain.
This example is from the original production period around 1940, as it bears the scripted GJ logo, which was only used in the period 1933 to 1944.
The pendant will be supplied with a nice silver chain. Buyer chooses length required.
