Holmsen Solje brooch
designed for Aksel Holmsen
The Norwegian silversmith Aksel Holmsen is best known for his guilloche enamel jewellery, but here is an example of his expertise in the traditional Norwegian silverwork designed to be worn on the folk costume. The brooch consists of scrolled silver filigree work with vermeil (gold wash) discs hanging from it.
This fabulous pin / brooch is an early piece, as it carries the 830 mark rather than 925. It is very large, and now in excellent condition as I had it refurbished, with a new, strong pin.
