Replica Viking Age Sterling figural pendant on chain

designed for other Danish Designers

The identifying marks on this pendant are indistinct, but the pendant features in the Museums Kopi Smykker catalogue, where I found the description of this Viking Age replica from Uppland in Sweden. This little figure, holding spears and a sword and wearing a helmet with orns, is linked to the god Odin. Horned helmets were used for ceremonial occasions, but never used by the Vikings. Odin was the wisest of all the Nordic gods, the ruler of Valhalla, creator of the world, god of war and death, but also of wisdom, magic and poety.

The pendant is supplied on the chain with which it was purchased. It is a thick snake chain with a Viking Age clasp.
