Silver foliage cuffinks
designed for other Danish Designers
A lovely pair of silver cuffinks mounted with the popular leaf and tendril design. This style seems to peculiar to Denmark. I have never seen these organic floral and foliage motifs created in other countries. All the major silversmiths produced this type of jewellery , with leaves, curling tendrils, and little balls as stylised flowers. They have not been written about in the books on designer jewellery, but I believe that at the time, in the 40s and 50s in particular, they were a lot more popular in Denmark than the simple modernist style we associate with Danish Design. Of course not everyone liked Danish modern straight away, and some people still don’t, so for the rest of the population this updated art nouveau was developed.
